Police Car Flipped Over as Georgians Stay Defiant on Streets

Thousands of Protesters Take to Tbilisi Over Controversial Bill

Tbilisi, Georgia - Thousands of protesters have once again taken to the streets of Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, in a defiant stand against a controversial bill that critics say would grant the government excessive powers to quash dissent. The protests, which have been ongoing for several days, have seen protesters clash with police, resulting in injuries and the overturning of a police car.

'Russian Law' Sparks Outrage

The bill, which has been dubbed the "Russian law" by critics, has drawn comparisons to legislation used by the Kremlin to crack down on political opponents. Georgian Interior Ministry officials stated that 14 protesters had been detained during the demonstrations.

Protesters Demand Withdrawal

Protesters are demanding that the Georgian government withdraw the proposed legislation, which they argue would severely limit freedom of expression and assembly. The demonstrations have been largely peaceful, but pockets of violence have erupted as protesters clashed with police.

International Condemnation

The protests in Georgia have drawn international attention and condemnation. The United States has urged the Georgian government to respect the right to peaceful protest, while the European Union has called on all parties to refrain from violence.
